The person behind ojob
Advaita Gupta
Founder & Builder, ojob
High school student · California, USA
I designed and built ojob — a platform that helps job seekers across India find work near where they actually live, and lets small employers find staff without an agent or a commission. I am based in California, and built it for a hiring problem I care about eight thousand miles away.
Everything here is built and run by one person, from the database and the OTP login through to the wording on this page. It was built using Claude Code.
Impact so far
Every figure is queried from the live database each time this page loads. Nothing is rounded up, estimated or typed in by hand, and demonstration records are excluded. A hire counts only once an employer has confirmed it on their own dashboard.
0
confirmed hires
None yet. This counter is live and moves the first time an employer confirms one.
0
people found work
Distinct job seekers hired through ojob.
0
jobs posted
Real postings by real employers.
0
cities with postings
Out of 250+ cities across every state and union territory.
ojob is new and these numbers are honest about that. They go up only because something actually happened — never because a number was edited.
How a hire gets counted
A job seeker applies. If the employer hires them, the employer marks the application as hired on their applications page. That stamps the date on the record, and this page counts it.
There is no other way for the number to change. It cannot be set by hand from the admin area, and it is not stored as a total anywhere — it is recounted from the underlying applications every time this page opens.
How it is built
Next.js and React with TypeScript, Tailwind for styling, and SQLite through libSQL for data. Sign-in is a mobile number and a one-time code, so nobody needs an email address or a password.
Search is measured with real coordinates, so “within 5 km” means five kilometres and not a name match. The site runs in English and Hindi, with the translation files set up so more Indian languages can be added.
